Hi Jim, I've never hauled anything on top longer than a couple drybags end-to-end, and they've got built in straps that work well with areas on the ADV1 to secure to. One of the things I like about the ADV1 is it's a "platform" as opposed to something with no room for customizing. For what you're considering, I'd say...mod away, It's your trailer. The entire top deck area is fertile ground. Just keep an eye on not having something that extends so far off the back that it hides the lights.Okay, here’s another question. I’ll have some longer items that I’m planning to put on top of the trailer lengthwise. At different times I’ll carry golf clubs, Archey equipment (takedown bow and some pretty long arrows) and a 2 or 4 piece fly rod. I think my options are to strap one of the following to the top: A travel golf bag, a few sections of thin wall pvc, or an extra long dry bag. I was also thinking of a gun case, but that might gain some unwanted attention.
Anyone have any other ideas on how to carry longer items?
@Jim R I'll echo what @s10ere'rider said, I did a 10 day trip with my tent and sleeping pad simply bungee-netted to the top of the lockbox. The only time I worried about it was when parked for lunch in a big city. On the road it was set-it and forget-it. For sidearms, the lockbox with the right padding would be perfect and pass most state laws I suspect, it certainly isn't within reach of the rider. I could see a longarm case taking up an entire side or top of the ADV1 but you are right, anyone who knows, would know.Hi Jim, I've never hauled anything on top longer than a couple drybags end-to-end, and they've got built in straps that work well with areas on the ADV1 to secure to. Very good advice, worth repeating!Just keep an eye on not having something that extends so far off the back that it hides the lights.
Those green bags look so good! Here's my setup so far.
I see SUP and surfboards on scooters and small bikes all the time around here
I have a short board that would effortlessly mount up on the ADV1 top deck and with the right mounts, I'll bet you could get a longboard on the side.
There is even one nutbag who wants to mount a canoe on the ADV1, if he does, I'll live stream it![]()
See attached. How long is the top platform of the ADV1? The only thing I’ll carry that I don’t have a plan for are golf clubs. I’m thinking of just lashing one of these to the top:

This is great info... my mod is going to be for a mountain bike. I can't wait!!!!See attached.
Three and a half feet on the deck, fender+lockbox.
Forward of the lockbox hinge, on a Tenere, with an empty Bumont top case rack (lots of variables here) you might have another foot of freeboard.
But under braking, perhaps downhill, (more and more variables) the trap correctly collapses a bit and you'll lose some length for a moment.
Mount the club case, take pix, we'll give you feedback you didn't ask for![]()
Just an FYI, there's a significant difference between "thinking of" and "seriously considering" loading a 16' Otter canoe on the ADV1...@Jim R I'll echo what @s10ere'rider said, I did a 10 day trip with my tent and sleeping pad simply bungee-netted to the top of the lockbox. Compound or recurve, I could easily see a case mounted to the "fender" and fat PVC pipe mounted to the side rails (I'm thinking 45 degree mount) would hold a quiver .
