Making ADV1s!

We have started to receive the parts for our first production run of ADV1s. On Tuesday Luke and I spent a half hour unboxing and unbagging all the hardware needed and dumping them into heavy-guage boxes. They looked something like this:

Next we took them to a specialty plater on the south side of Chicago where they will be stripped of their current coatings, brought down to steel only, and then plated with black zinc. All those pieces will be the same shade of black and look great in the ADV1.

I hear some of you saying, but Rod are you blind? Some of those bolts are already black. You are correct, but they are coated with black oxide, which is not as good as black zinc. Let us count the ways black zinc is a better coating: it is harder, more durable, thicker so has better coverage, more resistent to humidity, chemicals & corrosion, and can withstand temperature differences better. The downside of black zinc? It's more expensive, but as you all know, we're making a premium product—only the best!!

No...Luke and I spent about 5 or 6 hours yesterday doing that. And I can say very confidently I dislike M5 and M4 screws! I also don't like that we us M6 flatheads that are 22mm long and others that are 20mm. Sorting them is not fun.
