    First Ride - Impressions

I had a Lieutenant Colonel whose favorite saying was, "It's cheaper to ask a dumb question than pay for a dumb mistake." I've always taken that to heart because I'm cheap and I don't mind asking dumb questions. :D

Definitely NOT. Take the round black covers off the two higher points to the left (in your picture) and adjust the bolts there. :thumbup

Shakedown run, lights config, & license plate

Well, I got the shelf hardware & the RotopaX (sp?) installed today, it's almost easier with the trailer upside down so access to the fiddly nut channels is better, but it's still a tight squeeze. Shelf on front left, RotopaX on front right, and I've got an excess of spacers, bolts, washers, &...

    Let them eat cake.

The funeral home says they'll get me an email for a family member, so there's that.

Tom Dowell 6/4/43 - 9/11/25 Sadly, our father went to be with the Lord after suffering insurmountable injuries sustained when he crashed his motorcycle on 9/2/25. We will never know what happened, but we assume he experienced a "medical event." We want to thank all of you who have purchased...

Any thoughts on the trap tightness affecting turn radius or stiffness in turning?

Shakedown run, lights config, & license plate

I'm sure the bureaucrats have run the numbers on creating a new numbering scheme for MC trailer plates and it's not worth the expense.

Shakedown run, lights config, & license plate

When I moved from the Wet State of WA, I drove my cheap POS Corolla wagon and the CA DMV charged me an additional $300 for coming into the state with ... wait for it ... an out-of-state vehicle. Absolute fee-grabbing just because they could. There was an outcry by many and I eventually got my...

Shakedown run, lights config, & license plate

Briefly (suuure...), I got the trailer completely installed on the bike, adjusted sag, and departed from home yesterday @ 10 AM. Drove to Clearwater Lights in Rancho Cordova (105 miles), arrived @ 11:45. Yes, this is California, lane-splitting is legal and speeds were above the posted 65 MPH. 😁...

My condolences to the family. Excellent idea. Don't take too long, my bobbin cover has melted. If there's a point of contact, I'd like to use it and get the set that Mr. Dowell had presumably set aside for me.

    No permission?

Well, I have met Tony, so you may be correct. :D I worked at Boeing from '89 - '95 in Seattle with a floor full of programmers, systems analysts, program leads, etc., and some of them were absolute fruitcakes jammed with nuts & such. Wild times.

Hi, Paul! Given that Mr. Dowell of Excel Moto Works is incommunicado and my bobbin is exposed to exhaust heat, could you remove your exhaust extension and provide a bunch of pics & measurements so I and a welder buddy could try to replicate? I'd love to buy one of Mr. Dowell's creations but...

Shelf or Rotopax or pannier installation instructions?

What is meant by "Front mount" hardware vs. the other hardware, and is there a preferred/ suggested methodology? Thanks!

R1250 GSA Pillion footpeg & lower pannier mount point issue?

And to get the trailer to connect to the bobbins, the rear crossbar for the pannier racks had to be completely removed... And don't blame me, the computer auto-rotated the pic 90degrees to the left! ;-)

I'm in the same boat, trailer is fully assembled after a few hiccups and now I need to chase wires and make sure the brakes & turn signals work for the DMV inspection (and safety, of course!).
