R1250GSA w/ Bumot and Touratech 45Ltr Panniers and PASQ Shelves, Nanuk 938 Case and Igloo Cooler

I'm waiting for a rolling Igloo cooler to go on sale but this is the general setup for my PASQ.
Depending on the adventure, I may strap some chairs to the center of the trailer.
The Nanuk 935 is a 51 liter, IP67 waterproof, lockable rolling case with extendable handle.

The plan is to use the Nanuk for our daily luggage to roll into the hotel for check-ins.
I wanted something easy to unhook and roll in without having to look for a luggage cart.

Since the case weighs in at 14.55 lbs, (6.6kg), I intend to keep the contents under 15 lbs, (6.8kg) if possible.
Since it will be strapped to the frame and not so much on the shelf, I think it will be secure and not overstressing the shelf.

One of the silver Touratech panniers will be extra storage for heavier, bulkier items like sweatshirts, extra layers or dirty clothes to swap out.
The other will be camping gear, non-cooler food and/or MSR stove and pot for a nice cup of coffee on cold mornings.
The Bumots on the bike are where I will stow my riding gear and helmet when I stop for excursions and lunch, etc.

At the moment, my wife's bike is empty except for her riding gear and helmet. So we have some room for any tchotchke that may find it's way onto the bike.

Side Note - I noticed that I mistyped the model number. It is 938. The 935 is the smaller, carry-on sized model. I've corrected the thread title. Sorry for any confusion.

The last photo should be vertical.
Not sure why it auto-corrects to landscape?
I don't see a setting to correct it.

I'm going to use your configuration to show folks that I'm NOT excessively overloaded... :D

Well, that's unfair, sorry, I haven't gotten mine yet and I may have to eat my words... :D

When fully loaded, what's your ADV1's total weight & tongue weight?

$20+K bike, $2K+ panniers, $7K trailer, and you’re waiting for an igloo cooler to go on sale to finish your setup. I think it’s funny, but I also do the exact same thing. I pay for premium items when they are durable, high quality, and clearly best-in-class (And I really, really want it). At other times I pinch pennies and hold out for the less expensive option when I know it will suit me just fine and I wouldn’t get much value or joy out of the expensive option. Also, whatever the thing is, I enjoy it more if I got a good deal for it.

FYI, my plan is to use Nelson Rigg Hurricane and Tusk Pilot soft panniers on mine (and a long dry bag on top). So I’ll probably have the least expensive ADV1 setup of anyone. And I’m sure I’ll love it.

I'm pretty sure that's called "value-seeking" behavior and is about the most rational way of behaving. Congrats, you're a canny one!!

Love it. My cooler will be just that, but pulling the liners out of my soft bags to get them into a hotel (along with my office-backpack) was always 2 trips. Intrigued by the idea of everything-in-one...

Tony, I also love the S10. Picked up my 2018 fully kitted out a couple years ago. In my view, compared to a used GS, you get 90% of the performance at 60% of the price. Plus you get Yamaha reliability, a final drive that never fails, and lower ongoing cost of ownership. Even if they cost the same, I would likely pick the S10 over a GS.

I’ve put 10k miles on it (bike is at 18k now). I’m not that aggressive with it, so I expect to get another 100k. I expect many more from the ADV1. I’m almost thinking I should pick up a 2024 S10 in preparation for the sad day my current one is retired and the ADV1 needs a new horse.

A Super Ténéré love fest! One thing I love is all the nicknames it has! S10, Super10, Tenner, STen...

I'm in this fan club as well. I bought a 2012 with a full set of Givi cases for $5500 about 6 years ago. Stupidly, it was the bike I learned to ride on. Not the best bike to have when you are learning and dropping the bike. I'd love to have the cruise control and few other upgrades that came in 2014, but other than that, it just goes and goes and goes.

What has sincerely surprised me is the outsized support for the ADV1 that comes from the S10 world. To date, we have sold more ADV1s to S10 riders than any other make/model of bike. I attribute that fact, in part, because of the S10 forum, which is quite active. They not only let me post (I've been kicked out of the Super Adventure, Tiger, Multistrada, V-Strom, Guzzi...), but have embraced my posts more than any other forum. Those that let me continue to post are the S10, ADVRider, 1200GS, and the Africa Twin forums.

Maybe because if you chose an S10, you prioritized utility and durability over the highest performance runway fashion model. And the ADV1 suits the type?

As a long-time Yamaha rider (XS-500B, RD-400F (Daytona Special), XJ-650RJ (Seca 650 three times), I appreciate Yamaha reliability and character.

If it hadn't been for that insanely fun BMW K1200R in yellow, I might have never gotten the best-selling adventure bike in the world... :D

I've often heard that the cheapest thing on a BMW is the "nut" holding the handlebars.

I like your eloquent explanation of my financial decision making process.

For things that are "valued", I have no trouble pulling the trigger on the purchase.
For things that are in the "maybe" category, I have no issue waiting and watching for the sales that I know will be coming....

Well, I purchased the ADV1 when it was first offered (I'm #5) because it was perfectly suited to my needs, I ordered a pair of Mosko Backcountry panniers when they were offered at a 15% discount, and I'm generally on the lookout for good used gear ($100 for a 3-gallon RotoPax gas can w/mount). Yeah, I had to ride 2 hours & 100 miles & refill my tank, but the ride & bargain made it worth it. :D
