Userid & PW - "Remember Me" & PW retention?

Hey, Rod & Luke!

Minor annoyance, but... can the forum software be tweaked to allow the password to be kept in memory/cookies? My passwords are 16-character with caps & specials, and I'd like to NOT have to type it in all the time. Thanks!!

Yes, and I admit the possibility of hackableness, that's why I have a notebook of all my userids & PWs... Also annoying, but secure-ish!

Best!

Usually those Username/PWs are saved within the browser, having no connection to the web portal.
Ask me again why I love/hate ASVS Level 3.

Hey all,

When you log in, make sure to check the "Stay logged in" box (red arrow below). That sets a 30 day cookie and you shouldn't have to log in during that time.

Another option is to use a Passkey (green arrow) that makes it possible for you to use the biometric verification on your phone or computer (finger print or facial recognition) to log in.

Most secure computer is the one that's completely disconnected from anything, in 9 yards of concrete, at the bottom of the ocean.

Kinda hard to use, but it's secure.

I'm trying to move to Passkey as much as possible...both my laptop and phone have fingerprint readers so I'm covered with both of them. Much less of a pain in the posterior. And, I can't recommend 1Password.com enough. When I learned that Luke used and loved it too...I knew we'd get along just fine.

I'm a proud Luddite. I've done my time in mainframes, micros, mini, DEC, Apollo, even played with the Palo Alto Research Center's Star computer (first GUI & mouse), and I trust them not at all. Users do the dumbest things and there are legions of hackers & black hats stealing billions of userids and trillions of dollars of assets. Not going to lie, I use a password generator to get a bunch of random 16-character passwords, print them, and use them for a few months, then get a bunch more. I've seen the Equifax hacking disaster, I had to fix the "I Love You" virus/script damage (good money!!!) when I worked in Silicon Valley, and my trust level on computers and computer users is damned close to absolute zero Kelvin.

That is what "hackers" steal. These are not punks in their granny's basement with a case of Mountain Dew. They are seasoned AI geniuses with unlimited PTO, Health/Vision/Dental benefits and healthy 401k's.
They fight, we fight back. Every day.
I have a larger dataset that they can't see. It's the reason I think security professionals will win.
Now back to motorcycles, RokStraps, Bucees and more important things.
