As a ham & camper, I'd like to know if a PowerWerks Megabox would fit in the ADV1.
Dr Glenn & Billy of Clearwater Lights were at the 49er Rally and I informed them that I'd be visiting when I got my ADV1 to seek their assistance in wiring the Mini Billie, my ham radio, and a battery (& maybe a hibachi grill & sous-vide station) to it.Just to be clear @PBKrarup if that 7+ ever shakes loose, I'm finding your-over-prepared-ass
Dimensions look good, but I'm not seeing weight on the specs of the box?
Also not sure how BMW CANBUS nonsense gets heavy gauge power to charge/recharge such a thing. Luke's wiring is brill for most things, but heavy amperage would require dedicated circuits, I think.
Here are some dimensions you may want to consider IF you are thinking about putting a battery in the internal storage area:
Hope this helps!
- Internal dimensions are:
- 7.6" wide
- 12" long (at the bottom)
- 15" long at the top
- The opening is:
- 6" wide
- 15" long
Had no idea Clearwater was so close! I wonder if they have a scratch-&-dent box I could poke thru...Dr Glenn & Billy of Clearwater Lights were at the 49er Rally and I informed them that I'd be visiting when I got my ADV1 to seek their assistance in wiring the Mini Billie, my ham radio, and a battery (& maybe a hibachi grill & sous-vide station) to it.
Regarding the weight of the box, it's an "empty" shell and can hold a variety of batteries depending on needs, and the extra space inside is for cables, electrical tape, fuses, etc., etc., etc...
I don't push the envelope, I beat it into submission...![]()
The Powerwerx Mini Pwrbox2 battery box (LiFePO4, 12V, CV: 14.6V, MCC: 30A) fits in the top compartment at an angle and the DC-to-DC battery charger (solar panel to unit to Pwrbox2) would fit comfortably at various locations on the ADV1, etc., answer being resounding yes. Happiness abounds. The 60A solar panel(s) fit perfectly in the Mosko 40L duffle, so I know how that's going to be utilized! I'm SO amped up about getting the ADV1... ;-)
The ADV1 with it's conservation of momentum in the 3rd flywheel (rim+tire) ADDS stability.
At least for me on grooved pavement in serious winds.
I would love to hear other folks' feedback on this.
Cory Call is a local BMW racer and he met a midwest cop hauling an ADV1 on a KTM 890, who's that, Rod?![]()
